Recent Sample Questions to Legal Line

  • My uncle and his family were in a car accident.  His nephew passed on and his wife and kids seriously injured.  He is in jail for DUI although he was not drunk.  He passed the breathalyzer but was still arrested due to the accident he was in.  He does not speak any English so was unable to explain his side of the story.  Now they keep postponing the court dates.

  • My friends and I were working on this pole barn. And they ask me to help them on the roof. So I decide to help them. I fell off the roof and got hurt pretty bad.  I don't have insurance. And now I can't afford to pay for the bills.  Can you give me some options?

  • My sister was mistaken for a gun toting felon in our local court house. She was obliging her neighbor's request to take to her pay a fine.  While waiting for neighbor to accomplish her task, the clerk believed my sister to be a "most wanted".  She was tackled by two huge police officers who one on each shoulder tripped her and knocked her down.  They grabbed her arms as she fell to the floor to handcuff her and then began the Miranda rights calling her Marie...the name of the woman on a poster nearby.   She was bleeding and hurt. The brutality she suffered...the terror of being struck down without warning.  No apology from the officers or the police department "you're free to go"; she's afraid to be aggressive because she knows bad things can happen.  What recourse does she have? This was sad and tragic. She would not want to make this a news headline.

  • I was a passenger in a car when the driver got into a head-on accident.  The other driver was at fault.  The other driver in the other car had their insurance paid some of my medical bills – but I still have other medical bills adding up.  How do I get the other person’s insurance company (the one driving the car)  to pay for my medical bills?  Also, how long do I have to have to make sure the other persons insurance company pays for my medical bills after the accident?
  • I had a small accident in a local restaurant in June.  I fell and hurt my tailbone after leaning myself on the table to sit down.  It was unstable and tipped. I fell and my husband told the employee, whom didn't seem to care.  I was embarrassed so I cleaned up the best I could (my drink spilled all over me as the table tipped).  Now each day that passes, my tailbone hurts more.  It is keeping me awake at night.  What are my legal rights?
  • Have been in an auto accident and need help.   The other persons insurance is not willing to help. Can we sue them?   It's been a month and we are getting the run around.   My dad's neck and back still hurt although he has been to the doctor.   He was told that his personal insurance will not cover these expenses.
  • A couple days ago I was walking out of my apartment to go to school and I slipped and fell on the steps. My mom and I rent the house and the landlord is around daily. The step I fell on is broken and there is no gutter over the porch. The landlord has yet to fix the problem and it's been about three months. In the fall I hurt my back so I went to the doctor to get it checked out.  He put me on painkillers and muscle relaxers to ease the pain. Now I'm missing school, I can't lift weights for football training, and I don't know when I can go back to work. So I wanted to know what I can do in a situation like this.
  • I was hit on a private lot.  I was with my daughter coming down a lane to a stop sign.  Another car side swiped me twice.  He then backed up – got out of his car and knocked on my window.  He was drunk.  The police arrived – he drove into a parking space nearby and took off running down the hill.   The police went after him but told me they could not fill in a police report because this happened on private property.  They (the police) told me to go home and report the accident.  I reported the claim – I got nothing but the runaround until finally an adjuster called me.   She was very unhelpful and said she would have to contact the driver before she could send out an appraiser.  Finally he arrived – now I'm being told the only way she could put the check in my name was to fax her the title to my car.  Is that right?
  • I got run over by a friend’s truck in my garage. It was not insured. Got hurt. Am I able to get anything for pain and suffering?
  • I hurt my low back and hip area at work about 3 month ago.  Had an MRI, it showed no outstanding damage .But I’m having trouble with my back and hip, legs are cramping up. The insurance company doesn't want to do any more since they don't see anything on the MRI I need help.
