Criminal DWI

Welcome to Raleigh Legal Line!

Any one accused of a serious crime is facing a harrowing situation. Criminal charges can run the gamut from Driving While Impaired to Murder, from Disorderly Conduct to Anti-Trust crimes. Each type of charge carries the potential, however, to be a life-changing experience for the defendant. The fact of the matter is that innocent people have been sent to jail under even our legal system. Therefore, it is vital that they have an experienced criminal defense lawyer to assist them in any criminal charge.

The most frequently charged serious crime that most people will face is driving while impaired. The North Carolina legislature has passed legislation designed to make life difficult for anyone convicted of DWI. If you have been charged with DWI, you need the guidance and help of an experienced criminal defense lawyer even if this is your first DWI charge. Successfully defending a DWI charge requires experience and scientific know-how. There is no substitute for experience in such matters and here at Merritt Flebotte we have attorneys who have successfully dealt with DWI cases for years.

There are many other crimes with which regular people are charged that can destroy their lives. When the resources of the state are arrayed against you, it can be bewildering. Under such stress, innocent people can make mistakes that cost them their reputation, property and even their freedom. That is why if you are charged with a crime you need to quickly find a champion to steady you and even the odds. Our attorneys can do that.

  • 33016 - Last month I got a DUI. I didn't know what to do so I stayed in jail, and got court the next day. I received 3yrs probation, a DMV alcohol awareness class and a fine. I couldn't pay the fine which was due in full and now I don't know what to do about it. I just found out I can get a hardship loan from my 401k to pay for court cost/fines and lawyer fees and what not. If I go to the court to ask for hearing to resolve this, will they arrest me anyway?
  • My husband & I were in an accident in NC. The driver was drunk. He was not the owner of the vehicle. We sued the insurance company. Can we go after the driver now? This was his 3rd offense and he was NEVER charged before he hit us. He got his first DWI charged at our accident. Please help us.
